Bandits Corses

The driver of the Ajaccio-Bastia stagecoach received a bag of gold from the Treasury, which he was to transport. This became known to a band of bandits who were terrorizing the region. On a steep climb, they attacked the stagecoach, wounded the driver, stole the gold, unharnessed the horses, and left everyone behind. After regaining his strength, the driver went to find help. He alerted two gendarmes. With their assistance and that of a dog, they quickly discovered the bandits' hideout, which was then attacked. The brigands were taken prisoner, the gold recovered, and the police satisfied.
